What is a blog you ask?  A blog is where you can share your personal thoughts, opinions & learning with the rest of the world.  It is also a place where we can have class discussions and debates to learn from each other.

You will use this space for many things, such as:

  • Telling me your opinions or thoughts on science topics.
  • Reflecting on what you learned from an activity or lab.
  • Sharing cool stuff you learned about science outside of class.
  • How To Post and Comment: (Hint: type your information in Word & then copy & paste it in after using the spelling & grammar check!)

  • Write as if you are sharing your thoughts aloud, BUT be formal, this is not Facebook!
  • Be sure to say “why” you think or feel something and support your opinion.
  • Use examples in your life to make connections.
  • Hyperlink anything that helps your post, especially if you are referring to something you read.
  • You can add to someone else’s ideas, but be sure to give them credit. (ex. I agree with Cara when she said…I had the same thoughts as Cara and want to add…)
  • Find one thing you have a different viewpoint about or question about the post, but do it respectfully. (ex. Your point was interesting, but I disagree because…)
  • Try and add something to the original discussion.
  • Treat it like a conversation.
  • Blogging is an amazing way to have your voice heard in the classroom!  However, when sharing your voice, be sure you follow our Blog and Wiki Warranty.
