According to the Center for Disease Control Youth Risk Behavior Survey of teenagers in the US, “47 percent of high school students were sexually active in 2003.”

“The percentage of high school students who have had sexual intercourse increases by grade. In 2003, 62 percent of 12thgraders had had sexual intercourse, compared with 33 percent of
9th graders.”

Do these numbers surprise you? Do you think they are accurate for Cordova? Explain why you think so many teens NOT choosing abstinence.
