Welcome, my wonderful and amazing eighth grade English Language Arts students! We will be starting a great experiment together with this blog. I hope that we will be able to communicate with each other in new and exciting ways.

Remember, as quoted in that great literary source, Spiderman, “With great power, comes great responsibility.” I hope that we will all use this forum to learn more about literature, writing and each other.

What can you use this space for?

  • Post your reading letters and get feedback.
  • Recommend books
  • Continue a discussion from class
  • Post a reflection on works we’re reading

That said, I think it is only fair to establish some ground rules for things you may not do with our blog.

  • Bully, tease, or make fun of anyone.
  • Use language or make comments that would not be acceptable in our classroom.
  • Complain about teachers, students, parents, etc.
  • Post off-topic (i.e., make sure your post is relevant to English classes or school in some way).
  • Forget to proofread and check your grammar; we all make typos that we miss, but make sure to use the conventions you’ve been taught.

Please be sure to ask me any questions that you have. For this to be a thriving community, we all have to take part.
