The Wave – Explain the metaphor of “the wave” vs. the metaphor of “the ocean.” How does it relate to Morrie’s message about life?

The wave is a metaphor of a person and A wave is like a person because they both end up dying. The ocean is a metaphor of the society or a community that a person lives in. How this relates to Morrie’s message about life is as soon as a person accepts the fact that they are going to die, that is when a person can start living. The metaphor relates to this because every wave in the ocean is eventually going to die.
When a wave crashes into land it is forgotten because it is just a wave. If it is part of the ocean it is cycled back and never dies. Morrie relates this to life by saying that if we love each other and are loved back then we will never be forgotten. if we don’t give our time and love then we will surly be forgotten.
Morrie says that he is not just a wave, he is part of the ocean. I think he means that all the people in the world make up the ocean, or world. Everyone effects the economy so it isn’t just about one person, it’s about the whole world. So he is just a part of the ocean, not just a wave. He cares about people, and it shows when he says this. He cries about sad things that happen in the world, and he is a very nice man.
Morrie says that a wave is just one with the ocean and that is how Morrie is thinking of himself. He says that we are all part of a bigger cause. Morrie’s metaphor for the wave is basically telling us that even if we know that the end is near we should still enjoy our life and never take it for granted. We should just live as best as we can and never let a day go by that we regret. Morrie believes that we are all part of a much higher purpose and once we die then we give back to the world.
The wave represents a single person in the world while the ocean means that everyone is connected in some type of way so that there is a mutual bond between everyone. Even if you do not know the person you have some type of connection with them because you both are a part of the ocean.
