Students interested in a $1000 scholarship sponsored by the Alaska Association of School Business Officials need to go online to www.ALASBO.org
This scholarship is due March 15, 2010. Anyone interested please see Mrs. Moe because a sponsor is needed.
Are you interested in a career in education? Please see Mrs. Moe regarding the education loan program offered through Alaska Advantage. This is a competitive program.
(Deadline: April 15) The Holland & Knight Charitable Foundation, Inc. provides funding for the Young Native Writers Essay Contest, which allows Native American high school students to write about their experiences and their history.
Five first-place winners will be chosen to receive scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $5,000, and will be flown to Washington, DC to visit the Nat’l Museum of the American Indian and other prominent sites.
Eligible applicants include Native American and Alaska Native individuals who are enrolled members of a state- or federally-recognized tribe and who are also enrolled in high schools or alternative schools, or are home-schooled. Application information is available on the website.

Are you a student interested in a medical career? UAA offers a six week intensive summer program for Alaskan high school students who are interested in careers in medicine and other health care careers. The goal of the program is to foster, affirm, and encourage high school students’ interest in health professions through educational enrichment activities and job shadowing. Juniors and Seniors: Wouldn’t you like to get some extra college credits? By submitting an application to the Rural Alaska Honors Institute you could be selected and be sponsored with a $6000 scholarship that can be used at the Institute.
