  • Breakfast & Lunch Tomorrow: Biscuits & Gravy and Country Fried Steak
  • Cupid-grams are the perfect way to say, “I’m thinking of you,” “I think you’re kinda cute.” They’ll be on sale during lunch from Wednesday-Monday, and delivered in Lab next Tuesday. For $1, you can send the message you care.
  • Seniors, please fill out your Senior Night form and turn them in to the office by Friday, Feb. 5th.
  • -Pep Band students who will be traveling to Valdez next week need to pay your pep band fee of $10 to the office by Friday in order to be able to travel.
  • If you live in Heney Trailer Court you need to ride the first bus in the afternoon from now on.
  • The February issue of the Northern Lights is up at blogs.cordovasd.org/northernlights – read about issues that touch your lives.
  • Student Council members who want to plan AASG 2011, we’re having our first meeting today at lunch. Get your lunch and come to room 8 as soon as you can.
  • Would you like to Unicycle in the parade this weekend? Go to Mt. Eccles at noon on Saturday and meet up with Mr. Hamberger and he will set you up!
  • Seniors! Please stop by the office an pick up a packet for selling Yankee Candles, this is a fundraiser for your Safe & Sober event!
  • Students: Mrs Hollowell has created a heading “Opportunities” on the school website. This will enable you to see in depth those scholarships and opportunities available to you.
  • SWEP sheets are past due for all students. Get them in to me today.
  • Seniors: How would you like to be an intern for Senator Murkowski in Washington DC this summer? This internship offers a unique opportunity for graduating seniors to learn about the US Senate, gain experience in a professional office and experience life first hand in Washington DC. Juniors and Seniors: UAA Medical Career Shadowing

Are you a student interested in a medical career?  UAA offers a six week intensive summer program for Alaskan high school students who are interested in careers in medicine and other health care careers.  The goal of the program is to foster, affirm, and encourage high school students’ interest in health professions through educational enrichment activities and job shadowing.  There is no cost to participate in this program.  Housing is in the UAA residence hall.  If interested see Mrs. Moe or go online to http://biomed.uaa.alaska.edu/dk_udoc.html

Juniors and Seniors: Rural Alaska Honors Institute

Juniors and Seniors:  Wouldn’t you like to get some extra college credits?  By submitting an application to the Rural Alaska Honors Institute you could be selected and be sponsored with a $6000 scholarship that can be used at the Institute.  Application due date is March 31st. Jessica’s team is at CEC, Angie’s team is at the Forest service, Craig’s team is at the City library, Adam’s team is at the college and Casey’s team is in the high school conference room. Please do not be late and be sure to read through your materials in advance. See Mrs. Heitz with any questions. Also, Attention to those problem solvers competing in individuals, we will be meeting right after school on Wednesday to go over the new topic & talk about the competition, please be sure to attend.
  • Attention all students – please throw your food scraps into the food only trashcan – the science club is going to make your food scraps into methane. Please don’t throw milk cartons, napkins, or any plastics. Food only please. Thanks for your help.

It looks like the staff are in the lead with the Seniors and Sophomores neck & neck for second! Of course looks can be deceiving, there a lot of large bills in the buckets too! Dig deep into those pockets and donate!

  • Coin Drive Update! CHS Students are you going to let the STAFF win this contest? Bring in your change and fill the buckets! Thanks for your generous donations!
  • Students, we appreciate your recycling efforts. Please take the lids off your bottles before you recycle them. It is time consuming and messy for students on the recycling committee to have to do it afterwards.
  • If you are enrolled Spanish and Art through the College come to the college, bring their papers signed by their parents and their $25. Pronto!
  • Students remember that Honor Roll passes may not be used during the TIP OFF Tourney. All students must pay, this includes those working concessions and pep band! Also, be sure to get what you need out of your lockers after school today as you will not be allowed down the hall once the visiting teams move into the rooms.
  • CHS Boys JV basketball will practice Friday morning at 9:45.
  • Any 8th through 11th grade student who is interested in being on swim team next year please meet in Room 10 immediately after school on today.
  • We still need 2 seniors to sign up for concessions on Saturday, please stop by the office and put your name on the list.
  • Close Up kids remember to check the concessions schedule in room 12.
  • Wrestlers you have concession on Saturday from 5:30 to 8:30
