After watching Jurassic park my views on cloning kind of changed. I can’t say that I think it’s a good idea to be cloning endangered or extinct animals, but it’s not necessarily a bad idea either. I think that we shouldn’t be cloning an animal that was extinct naturally, meaning with out humans doing anything to cause it, because were not positive that they will fit into this world anymore. I also think there is no good reason why would want to bring back animals such as dinosaurs or other large and dangerous animals . We already have enough things in this world that are dangerous why would we want to bring back more? Yes, it would be very interesting and it might be helpful to repopulate something, but I think they should only be cloning if we need it in this world and we’re on the verge of running out of it. I think the main good thing about cloning is figuring out how to cure cancer and other diseases with it. We should spend more time focusing on that instead of trying to bring back extinct animals.
I completely support Dr. Malcolm when he says that nature cannot be contained and that the evolution of life will “always find a way.” I strongly believe that every thing happens for a reason and our wild life seems to be doing alright right now, so like I said before, I don’t see the need to bring back extinct animals when they probably were extinct for a reason in the first place. How can we know if they will fit into our world anymore? It might just cause more problems. Life so far has always figured out a way to work out itself, and I feel like if we just start cloning things like wild fire we’ll get confused with what is a real animal and what is just a clone.
I do think that cloning is very interesting, but if I had to choose a side I would say that it’s not necessary for our world right now besides helping us cure diseases. Our world is growing so fast and with all this technology I feel like we might be getting too far ahead of our selves. The natural world is supposed to work itself out, we can’t control it and the more we try the more it might mess things up.
