We just completed the movie Jurassic Park, which showed the cloning of extinct animals and their struggle to survive in a man made world. Your task is to reflect both on the human controls in this movie and the adaptations of nature. The underlying theme of the movie is an ongoing conflict between man versus nature. In a well developed essay POST, reflect on whether or not you think it is okay for man to clone extinct or even endangered animals, harmful like the T-rex or not? Also, explain whether you agree or disagree and why with Dr. Malcolm when he says that nature cannot be contained and that the evolution of life will “always find a way.”
Be sure to look back at the notes you took during the movie and back up your opinions with examples, facts, and/or statements from the movie for full credit. Your post should be a minimum of 3 well developed paragraphs with complete sentences and correct spelling & grammar. Create a catchy title and place it in the Thinking Critically category!
1. What are the differences between asexual & sexual reproduction?
I think sexual reproduction is two things coming in contact with each other with emotion and asexual reproduction has no emotional contact.
2. Why is there asexual reproduction?
I think there is asexual reproduction so plants and other things can reproduce.
3. Why is there sexual reproduction?
I think there is sexual reproduction so we can make babies for future generation.
4. How do you think bacteria reproduce?
I think asexually
5. How do single-celled organisms like amoeba reproduce?
I think asexually
6. How do mushrooms & molds reproduce?
I think asexually
7. How do plants reproduce?
I think asexually
9. How does reproduction in higher animals differ (reptiles vs birds vs mammals?)
I think reptiles and birds lay eggs and mammals don’t, except platypuses .
11. What is cloning and how is it currently being used?
I think cloning is making an exact copy of another thing.

1. What are the differences between asexual & sexual reproduction?
Asexual reproduction is when the reproductive parts of organisms are somehow transported to another one. Sexual is when to organisms make contact to reproduce.
2. Why is there asexual reproduction?
I think there is asexual reproduction because some things can’t move like plants and if they couldn’t asexually reproduce they wouldn’t reproduce at all and then they would have gone extinct a long time ago and then there would be no oxygen because there were no plants and everything would die.
4. How do you think bacteria reproduce?
Bacteria breaks apart again and again.
5. How do single-celled organisms like amoeba reproduce?
I think single-celled organisms reproduce by splitting themselves into to pieces again and again.
7. How do plants reproduce?
Plants produce asexually. Their pollen gets on bees and bees spread it around from flower to flower.
11. What is cloning and how is it currently being used?
Cloning is when you make an identical copy of something and I think it is currently being used for copying experimental animals to study them because if one dies they have another exactly like it.
12. What are the laws for cloning right now?
I think that the laws for cloning right now are that you can’t clone people and you can only clone something you are experimenting on.
1. What are the differences between asexual & sexual reproduction?
I think the difference is that sexual reproduction requires a partner whereas asexual reproduction doesn’t.
2. Why is there asexual reproduction?
I think asexual reproduction exists because life evolved from a single organism therefore the first organism would have to reproduce asexually.
3. Why is there sexual reproduction?
I think there is sexual reproduction because in general it allows for more rapid evolution (combining 2 gene sets).
4. How do you think bacteria reproduce?
I think bacteria reproduce asexually because I remember hearing that bacteria divide in two.
5. How do single-celled organisms like amoeba reproduce?
I would guess that single-celled organisms reproduce asexually because in general they don’t seem complex enough to have different sets of reproductive organs.
6. How do mushrooms & molds reproduce?
I think that mushrooms and molds reproduce by releasing spores into the air and the spores ‘pollinating’ other mushrooms.
7. How do plants reproduce?
I think that plants reproduce by releasing pollin into the air and the pollin fertilizing other plants (of the same species). Note this means that plants can reproduce sexually or asexually.

1. What are the differences between asexual & sexual reproduction? asexual is where one organism basically clones its self and creates a copy using half of his DNA and then that half grows its self the other half and then there are two. Sexual is when 2 different animals a male and a female have sex and the male transfers his DNA to a females egg so that it may be fertilized and the baby growth shall start.
2. Why is there asexual reproduction? So that cells and and other microscopic organisms many produce easier and faster since they are so defenseless.
3. Why is there sexual reproduction? So that 2 different animals have to work together and produce more of their own beings through the act of sex. This helps keep the population higher or lower depending on animals mortality rate and its assures all animals are different.
6. How do mushrooms & molds reproduce? The living fungus produce spores that they send out into the air and then the spores attach themselves to a dark and wet plant or dead tree then they start growing through photosynthesis.
10. What do you know about stem cells? That they are illegal to use in the United States unless government funded.
11. What is cloning and how is it currently being used? Cloning is taking one animals DNA and copying it exactly to create duplicate animal. Farmers can use it to get more bargain when it comes to livestock because if you can have one cow with genes to grow huge and produce a large amount of milk he can simply produce clones of that cow so that he may only have the biggest and milk filled cows around.
12. What are the laws for cloning right now? That they are illegal to preform on a human being and that only animals are allowed to be cloned.
1. What are the differences between asexual & sexual reproduction? I think that asexual reproduction is the opposite of sexual reproduction, where something is reproduced without lots of contact, whereas sexual reproduction does.
3. Why is there sexual reproduction? There is sexual reproduction in order to keep producing others.
5. How do single-celled organisms like amoeba reproduce? I think that they split apart and this causes them to reproduce.
6. How do mushrooms & molds reproduce? I imagine that they do just as plants do, where they get sort of pollinated or something like seeds being spread around.
7. How do plants reproduce? Plants reproduce with pollen and pistons, sort of representing male and female parts.
11. What is cloning and how is it currently being used? I have heard that cloning is copying ones DNA to make an exact replica; I think it is currently being used more sort of as a trial and error to perfect the whole process.
12. What are the laws for cloning right now? I would imagine that the laws for cloning can be on animals, but not humans because there may be possible effects that they need to perfect first.

1. What are the differences between asexual & sexual reproduction?
Sexual is one male cell and one female cell, asexual is the separation of one special cell, mitosis.
2. Why is there asexual reproduction?
It is a survival advantage, all you need to spread is one cell.
3. Why is there sexual reproduction?
Because one male and one female got together for a good time.
4. How do you think bacteria reproduce?
Asexual, were the clone themselves to survive and thrive.
7. How do plants reproduce?
Plants have both male and female sexes, so a flower can fertilize themselves or the flower next to them.
9. How does reproduction in higher animals differ (reptiles vs birds vs mammals?)
Reptiles and birds both end up with eggs, mammals have babies and produce milk for the offspring.
10. What do you know about stem cells?
Stem cells are simply the the cells of the plant that are were the stem is.
11. What is cloning and how is it currently being used?
Cloning is the reproduction of an organism with out the man and the girl coming in contact with each other. Animals are cloned, and can and are being mutated purposely to improve the animal.
12. What are the laws for cloning right now?
Animals can be cloned and slightly mutated, humans cant, because there are identity issues.
How do simple animals like jellyfish & sponges reproduce? They float around each other and stuff goes down.
Why is there asexual reproduction? So that bacteria and stuff can reproduce.
Why is there sexual reproduction? So that giraffes and stuff can reproduce.
How do plants reproduce? They collect pollen and it goes in them and they make more of themselves and stuff.
What are the differences between asexual & sexual reproduction? Asexual means you can do it by yourself and sexual requires two or more.
What is cloning and how is it currently being used? Making something that looks the same as its original?
12. What are the laws for cloning right now? You can clone sheep and stuff but not people.

3. Why is there sexual reproduction? I think it is mainly to increase the population, and to continue the race to expand their existence in the world.
4. How do you think bacteria reproduce? I think bacteria reproduces so that it can multiply, and gather together to work as a group to work on its purpose.
7. How do plants reproduce? From what I know, they spread their pollen, and that is how they fertilize the eggs.
9. How does reproduction in higher animals differ (reptiles vs birds vs mammals?) I think that the different type of species have the ability to produce different numbers of babies.
10. What do you know about stem cells? I think a stem cells are the base structure of a plant, and the table you have to make in Algebra that is time consuming.
11. What is cloning and how is it currently being used? Cloning is taking DNA and putting it in an organism and wait for it to develop. I think it is being used for research.
12. What are the laws for cloning right now? I think that some laws for cloning are not to over produce, and having a limit to use the same DNA to produce a multitude of the same copies.
1. What are the differences between asexual & sexual reproduction?
I think Asexual is reproducing by yourself
2. Why is there asexual reproduction?
I think think that there is asexual reproduction because there inst any other animals to reproduce with.
3. Why is there sexual reproduction?
I think there is sexual reproduction because it would have a better success rate.
7. How do plants reproduce?
I think plants reproduce by spreading pollen to other plants.
8. How do simple animals like jellyfish & sponges reproduce?
I believe the reproduce asexually.
11. What is cloning and how is it currently being used?
Cloning is growing the exact same cells of another animal.
12. What are the laws for cloning right now?
I believe it is illegal to clone.
