Passport Unit to Begin

We will begin our “Passport” unit of study the week of January 7th.  This is where each student chooses a country and takes on a foreign identity for this quarter of school.  We will be doing a variety of activities including making a passport, making a flight itinerary, Google Earth tour, a multi-media presentation, a scrapbook, and finishing it off with a big lunch on International Day, Friday, March 8th.  Please click on the following link to view the detailed information on this unit of study.Passport Unit

Skate Park Project

Our class will begin our annual skate park project the week of November 26th.  We need each household to begin saving cardboard boxes and tubes of all sizes and shapes for this project.  I will notify everyone of when to bring them to school.  When the projects are done you will be invited to come and see them in action.

Writing Project: Element Report

Our class will now begin our first major writing project, an element report.  Each student will choose a chemical element to research and report upon.  They will do research online and using other classroom resources.  In the link categories  on the right side of this blog you will see the element report category.  The links in this section are what they will use as part of their research.  Attached to this post are the procedures and requirements for this project and a scoring rubric showing how it will be graded.  The students will be writing their reports on their school laptop computers.
