This is really interesting, something that has honestly never crossed my mind before. It does seem logical though that sending your child to a summer camp with possibly hundreds of other children would put them in more danger, but it seems that's not the case. I wonder if you send your child to a few different two week sessions it would be okay, since howajan says "Children at summer camp for longer than 2 weeks are more likely to get injured than those playing sports or swinging at the swings on the playground."

From the website, http://www.physorg.com/news179512999.html, says "While the overall risk of serious injury was low, long-term camp sessions, lasting 14 or more days, did present an increased risk of serious injury."

So I say, if you're going to send your child to summer camp, make sure it's only two weeks long and if you are worried about sending them for another two week session, have a friend send their child and see how it works out..
