Ridolin and Aderal which are treatments for ADHD are good for what they are intended for, they improve attention, concentration and productivity and get rid of impulsive behavior. This makes people who have ADHD’s live a lot easier. During the past 15 years doctors have been prescribing these drugs to anybody who tested positive for ADHD. Now there are studies being done and it has been found in the long run these drugs are horrible for your brain, they can be equivalent to short term uses of cocaine. More studies were done in animals and in the long run it makes the more anxious about everything and alters the way they’re brain functions and reforms itself for repairs. I would like to know if there is a drug besides these that you can take to control impulsive behavior.

I think that Ritalin and Aderal are really bad for you and as you said it is equivalent to short term use of cocaine. This caught my attention because if it is that bad for you why are they giving it to patients still. I did some research and i found out that according to http://www.focusas.com/AttentionalDisorders.html 34% of youth in Wisconsin and Minnesota with ADHD from the ages 11-18 were reported being approached to sell or trade their medicines, such as Ritalin. If Ritalin is almost as bad as cocaine i don’ think youth know that because there isn’t as many youth doing cocaine as they are taking Ritalin and Aderal. According to http://www.camh.net/About_Addiction_Mental_Health/Drug_and_Addiction_Information/about_cocaine.html In 2005, 4.4% of Ontario student in grades 7 to 12 have used cocaine. Even if that is still a bad amount it is a lot less then 34%. On the site http://www.coreynahman.com/11_25_ADHD_drugs.html it gives you 10 different medications for ADHD and a explanation how it works.
