While many of us are still wondering where summer went, how many realized that the 1st quarter of school was also completed? Cordova Schools continue to move forward with many great projects/learning opportunities. Our recent “Report Card to the Public” represents considerable success in meeting the stringent guidelines of the Federal Government via the No Child Left Behind regulations. That combined with the Mt Eccles projects, growing technology efforts in our classrooms, and with many community grant efforts that have recently been awarded makes for a great start. Thank you to all parties that have made this first quarter for our Cordova students safe and successful. As you read the October 2009 newsletter (click to download), please contact this office with any question you may have. Sincerely,

With the students’ 1st day of school scheduled for August 20, a quick peek at the calendar reminds us that summer is quickly slipping away from us. As you read through the Patron Newsletter and beginning of the year information sheet, please do not hesitate to contact this office for more information on any of the items referenced, or for any other questions you may have. Enjoy the final days of summer.

Sincerely,

Even though summer is not over, it’s not too early to prepare for next school year. In addition to the usual new notebooks and pencils, some elementary school students in Alaska will need immunizations before school starts this fall. Children in kindergarten through sixth grade will need to show proof that they have received two varicella (chickenpox) vaccinations or that they already have had the disease.

Please refer to this Vaccination Update to learn more about the vaccinations needed the 2009-2010 school year.

Welcome to the Cordova Schools’ Website. Thank you for visiting us on the Web! Cordova Schools is proud of its students and staff, as is the entire community of Cordova. As you peruse our site, please note the efforts underway to engage all parts of the community in the responsibility of educating our children. The newly implemented “Powerschool” is an example of the district’s efforts to increase communications among all the educational stakeholders, especially parents, students and staff. Our site is also an excellent source for current employment opportunities, media releases, and patron newsletters.

Follow our “Wolverines” with the activities schedules, as they compete statewide, or simply take a virtual tour of our schools, the many teacher’s websites, and the many projects we are currently undertaking. Cordova Schools has much to be proud of and we are excited to share it with you.

I want to personally encourage you to contact me should you not find what you are looking for.

Sincerely,
